Mango® is a modern Floribunda rose created by the famous German house W. Kordes’ Söhne, noted for its warm and bright color, abundant blooming, and compact habit. It is a variety designed for contemporary gardens, but especially for spaces where a lot of color is desired on a small-sized plant.
Its flowers combine superb shades of orange and yellow, creating a warm effect reminiscent of the colors of a mango fruit. The hue may vary slightly depending on temperature, light intensity, and the stage of flower opening.
The flowers are semi-double, have approximately 5–6 cm in diameter and appear in abundance, turning the small bush into a real explosion of color. The contrast between the orange flowers and the intense green foliage contributes to the decorative appearance of the plant.
Mango® is a remontant variety, producing successive waves of flowers throughout the season. An interesting advantage highlighted by the breeder is its good ability to produce new flowers even without constant deadheading of spent blooms, which makes it practical and easy to maintain.
The fragrance is discreet, with official Kordes documentation awarding it approximately 2 out of 5 points for fragrance intensity. Therefore, Mango® is primarily a rose chosen for its color, abundance of flowers, and compact habit, rather than for an intense fragrance.
The plant develops a compact, bushy and upright-growing bush, reaching approximately 60 cm in height and 40 cm in width. Due to these proportions, it is excellent for borders, beds, group plantings, and, especially, for pots and planters on terraces or balconies. Kordes explicitly recommends it for container cultivation and classifies it as suitable even for locations with high temperatures.
It is part of the Kordes’ Klima-Rosen® collection, a category in which the breeder brings together varieties focused on adaptability and use in modern climatic conditions. Mango® was introduced commercially in 2019.
Its qualities have also been recognized in international competitions. In 2021, Mango® received the Prix de l'Environnement at the International Rose Competition in Orléans, an award given to the variety with the best health qualities among the roses in the competition. In 2022 it also received an Honorable Mention at the international competition in Hradec Králové.
Compact, bright, and generous in flowering, Mango® is the ideal choice for those who want a modern rose in warm orange tones, suitable both for the garden and for decorating terraces and balconies.
