Lunara® is one of the most interesting novelties from the German house W. Kordes’ Söhne, a climbing rose that immediately draws attention with its unusual color, spicy fragrance, and vigorous growth.
Its flowers have a distinct violet-purple shade, rarely seen in climbing roses. They are medium-sized, reaching approximately 7–8 cm in diameter, and have an elegant, natural semi-double form.
The flowers appear in small clusters, creating intense spots of color on the plant and offering a spectacular decorative effect when viewed as a whole.
Beyond its unusual color, Lunara® also impresses with its intense, spicy-scented fragrance, which adds personality to this modern variety.
The blooming is repeat, so the plant produces new waves of flowers throughout the season.
Lunara® develops with vigorous growth, reaching approximately 200 cm in height and 70 cm in width. It is suitable for arches, pergolas, fences, trellises, and various vertical structures, where the color of the flowers can be showcased very well.
The foliage consists of large, leathery-textured leaves that create a robust and elegant background for the violet flowers. According to official Kordes information, the foliage shows medium resistance to fungal diseases, and regular monitoring of the plant and maintaining good air circulation is recommended.
The variety also has very good cold resistance, which allows it to be used successfully in a wide range of European gardens and climates.
Through the combination of its rare color, spicy fragrance, and climbing habit, Lunara® is the right choice for gardeners who want a modern rose, different from classic varieties and capable of becoming a focal point in the garden.
