Gospel is a Nostalgic Hybrid Tea rose created by the renowned German breeder Rosen Tantau, a variety that spectacularly combines deep color, romantic flower shape, and an exceptionally intense fragrance.
Its large flowers open in superb shades of intense crimson-red, with a rich and elegant appearance. The initial shape is cupped, characteristic of nostalgic roses, and the flowers reach approximately 10–12 cm in diameter when fully open.
The flowers are borne on medium-length stems, often accompanied by 3–5 side buds, which gives the bush a rich and spectacular bloom.
But the true signature of the Gospel® variety is its extraordinarily strong fragrance. Rosen Tantau describes it as intense, with an oriental and spicy character. It is one of those roses whose scent can be perceived immediately when near the plant and which deserves a special place in any garden dedicated to fragrant varieties.
Blooming is repeat, with new waves of flowers throughout the season, so the plant provides both color and fragrance for a long period.
Gospel® develops a well-branched, bushy, and upright shrub, reaching approximately 70–100 cm in height at maturity. Its balanced dimensions make it suitable for flower beds, borders, group plantings, as well as for cultivation in pots and generous containers.
The flowers are also very suitable for cutting, retaining their elegance and fragrance in bouquets and floral arrangements.
For group plantings, Rosen Tantau recommends approximately 4–5 plants/m², corresponding to a planting distance of approximately 45–50 cm.
Its qualities have been recognized in numerous international competitions. Among others, Gospel® has won the Golden Rose in Geneva, the Bronze Medal in Tokyo, the Gold Medal in the Nagaoka fragrance rose competition, as well as the prestigious Fragrance Award in Rome.
Intense, elegant, and impossible to overlook, Gospel® is the ideal choice for lovers of red roses who are looking not just for a spectacular flower, but also for a strong and sophisticated fragrance.
