Discover the refined character of the Thierry Marx rose, an intensely fragrant Delbard Floribunda with very lush blooms, where the deep pink-purple center gradually shifts toward more delicate shades of lilac-pink at the edges. Standing approximately 80–100 cm tall, this variety combines a powerful fragrance dominated by citrus accents, repeat flowering, and glossy, dark green foliage into a compact bush that brings a distinct note of refinement to the garden.
Choose it if you desire an intensely fragrant rose with an unusual purple hue, a romantic flower shape, and enough personality to become a focal point without occupying the space of a large shrub.
A rose bearing the name of Thierry Marx could hardly be ordinary. The famous French chef built his reputation on precision, creativity, and the ability to transform familiar ingredients into something unexpected. The Delbard rose that bears his name follows much the same idea: at first glance, it is obviously romantic, but it becomes far more interesting when you look closely.
The color offers the first surprise. The densely petaled flowers open with an intense pink-purple and purple center, surrounded by lilac-pink petals that gradually become lighter toward the outside. As the flower matures, some of the outer petals may become very light in color, creating a beautiful gradient from the darker center to the edges.
The flowers are approximately 8 cm in diameter with an impressive number of petals, forming deep, very full cups with the charm of old-fashioned roses. They can appear solitary or in small clusters and stand out beautifully above the glossy, dark green foliage.
Then comes the fragrance—and this is where Thierry Marx becomes truly memorable. Part of the Delbard Les Grands Parfums collection, the variety has a strong scent built around classic rose and tea aromas, enlivened by fresh notes of lemongrass, lemon, and grapefruit.
It is a fragrance of contrasts: floral, yet fresh; rich, yet bright. Planted near a path, a terrace, or a seating area, Thierry Marx provides plenty of reasons to stop and savor its scent rather than just walking past it.
The plant forms a vigorous yet compact bush with an upright habit, usually reaching approximately 80–100 cm in height and 50–60 cm in width. The large, glossy, dark green leaves create a particularly beautiful backdrop for the unusual lilac and purple-toned flowers, and the natural good health of the foliage contributes to its performance in the garden.
Flowering repeats in successive waves throughout the summer and continues into autumn. Its manageable size makes it suitable for rose beds, mixed borders, small groups, or generous containers. The intensely fragrant flowers are also particularly beautiful cut and brought indoors.
Thierry Marx is a rose of details: the intense center that fades to light lilac at the edges, the richly overlapping petals, and the unexpected freshness of citrus in the fragrance. Much like the chef whose name it bears, its character is not defined by a single element, but by how several distinct traits meet in a remarkable ensemble.
